PROG & ROLL radio show (19/7/2015). The full playlist...

Last night one more Prog & Roll radio show was online, and this time we had as 'guest on the chatbox' the English musician/composer Andy Wade. Andy is the brother of Chris Wade, the mastermind behind the Folk-Rock project 'Dodson & Fogg'.
In order to honor and thank him, we played 3 songs in total from both his albums, plus an extra song from a project he had with his brother named 'Rexford Bedlo'.
Once more we had listeners from many countries as usual, and I think everybody enjoyed the music and the show in general. A funny incident happened at the end of the show, and I'll describe it here: We played the last song which was the "epic" one, we said our goodnight to the people, and closed the connection with the server. At that point, someone mentioned something about playing one more song as an 'encore', and suddenly altogether started writing on the chatbox that we had to play one more song. After almost 5 minutes that we talked about it, we re-opened the server in order to play one more song for them. And after a public demand, the song we played as 'encore' was once more 'Stargazer' by Rainbow.
On a different subject now, I would like to inform you that next Sunday's Prog & Roll will be the last one for this season. After that show, we will have an almost 1.5 month break, in order to relax, go on holidays, and "refill our batteries" in order to be ready for the new season. And since it will be the last show, we will do our best to present a powerful and enjoyable playlist for our listeners.
So, try not to miss this Sunday's (26/7) Prog & Roll, because it will be a great one!
Here you can see the full playlist from last night:

XII ALFONSO: Physics & Hunting / JETHRO TULL: Skating Away on the Thin Ice of the New Day / TAMALONE: Good Earth Wine / STRAWBS: The Hangman & the Papist / STEELEYE SPAN: Cam Ye O’er Frae France / DODSON & FOGG: Flying High / REXFORD BEDLO: Hold on / JOSH & CO LIMITED: Land of the Gods / JOURNEY: You’re on Your Own / ANDY WADE: Don’t Take this Away from Me / NEKTAR: Can’t Find My Way Home / CREAM: Badge / PINK FLOYD: Run Like Hell / MARILLION: Assassin / IQ: Tunnel Vision / PORCUPINE TREE: Even Less / ANDY WADE: Who We Were / AMERICA: Sandman / ANDY WADE: Something Beautiful / BROKEN PARACHUTES: False Prophets / GARY BROOKER: Savvanah.

Thank you all! :-)

Goodies from GFreedom's Music Collection # 20

THE BUTTERFLY BALL & THE GRASSHOPPER'S FEAST - A Rock Opera (1974)
The Butterfly's Ball & the Grasshopper's Feast is a poem written by William Roscoe in 1802 and it's telling the story of a party for insects and other small animals.
A couple of centuries later, in 1973, it became a children's picture book loosely based on the poem, written by Alan Aldridge and William Plomer.
And finally, in 1974 it became a Rock opera by Roger Glover, based on the children's picture book I mentioned above.
The project started as a collaboration between Roger Glover (who had recently left Deep Purple) and John Lord, but because Lord was too busy with Deep Purple, Glover decided to run the project on his own. Using his connections, Glover recruited a large cast of noted Rock musicians to perform on the album, using a different singer on each track. In order to understand how big this project was, I should mention that almost 30 musicians and singers participated in the recordings, not to mention a whole symphony orchestra. Some of the most famous musicians who participated in the recordings of the album were: Roger Glover, David Coverdale & Glen Hughes (from Deep Purple), Tony Ashton (from Paice Ashton Lord), Michael Giles (from King Crimson), Ronnie James Dio (from Rainbow), John Gustafson (from The Ian Gillan Band & Roxy Music) and John Lawton (from Lucifer's Friend & Uriah Heep).
There was a single that came out of this album, the song 'Love is all' (with R.J Dio on vocals), which reached at No.1 in Holland and became rather famous in France.
In 1975 the album was presented live in a one-off performance that took place in the Royal Albert Hall in London. At this performance there is a different cast, including Ian Gillan in the place of Ronnie James Dio, because he was unable to participate, due to his commitments with Rainbow.
The original version of the album was released as a double vinyl, it contains 20 tracks, and has a total running time of almost 75 minutes. In the 1995 reissue of the album on cd, there are 9 more tracks included, but there is nothing new there. The 9 tracks are just remixes and demo versions of some songs.
If you want my personal opinion, I don't think that it is a "must have" album, but it is a nice collector's item for those who like Rock music.
My rating would be 2.5 out of 5.0 stars
In the following link you can see the whole album performed live at the Royal Albert Hall

Enjoy! :-)

PROG & ROLL radio show (12/7/2015). The full playlist...

Hello all!
Last night one more Prog & Roll radio show was online as usual. This time we had the pleasure to have as "guest on the chatbox" the English composer/musician Paul Hayworth, with whom we spoke about his music, his plans for the future, etc. We also played 3 songs from his new very good album 'Phantom Nomad'. Because Paul's music is pure Rock, and has nothing to do with Prog, we prepared the playlist accordingly.
We also announced that Prog & Roll will be online until the 26th of July, because after that date we will have our summer break, and we will be back in September.
Here you can see the whole playlist from last night's show:

Rockwave Festival 2015. The Setlists...

ROTTING CHRIST / BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB / JUDAS PRIEST / THE PRODIGY
Rockwave Festival is a festival that is taking place in Greece for many years now, and beause of it I had the chance to see many great bands live in the past. This year I didn't go, because I didn't care much for the bands. The only exception would be Judas Priest, but I have seen them live twice, so I decided not to go...
I read some reviews about this event, and as it seems it was a nice festival. The bands performed really well, and there was a crowd of 10 - 15.000 people gathered. (Not much for such an event in my opinion).
I couldn't find the setlist of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club unfortunately, so I'll just write down the setlists from the other bands.

Here you can see the setlists:
ROTTING CHRIST

666, P'unchaw Kachun - Tuta Kachun / Athanati Este / Κατά Τον Δαίμονα Εαυτού / Nemecic / King Of A Stellar War / The Sign Of Evil Existence / Transform All Suffering Into Plagues / Societas Satanas / In Yumen-Xibalba / Grandis Spiritus Diavolos / Χάος Γένετο (The Sign Of Prime Creation) / Noctis Era / Non Serviam.
JUDAS PRIEST
