Hello all!
I am glad to say that, since today, the special Prog n Roll radio show we did on the 5th of November, is available as podcast. We had a presentation on the new album of Threshold, Legends of the Shires that night, mixed with parts of the interview we conducted with the band's leader Karl Groom. We also had Karl himself on our chatbox, and altogether were chating about serious and fun things.

THRESHOLD Live in Athens (12/11/2017). The setlist and more...

  A few days ago, Threshold begun their European tour from Athens. 
This was their first visit in Athens, and we certainly hope not the last one.
The gig took place at Kitaro live, a kind of small but warm venue in the center of Athens.
  The band played for almost 2 hours, and the setlist was including many songs from their new album Legends of the Shires, mixed with some of their older stuff.
  As I had announced here a few days ago, I went to the gig together with my wife and Prog n Roll's co-host, and we both had great time.
  The band's performance was excellent, the sound quality was good, (but not perfect), and we enjoyed it a lot. All the musicians were really good on stage, and the songs were carefully chosen. So, no complains.
  After the concert we met with Karl Groom, the band's leader, who we knew from his appearance as "guest" in our radio show Prog n Roll. We also met the other guys from the band, and we had a very nice chat with all of them. We also took some pictures, autographs etc...
  It was a very good evening, and we are looking forward to see them on stage again in the future. Threshold will give live gigs in many places around Europe in the following months, so check their official site for  more info: http://www.thresh.net/

STRAWBS: The Ferryman's Curse (2017). My point of view...

  Starting this, I should say that I consider myself as a fan of Strawbs. Maybe not the greatest fan, but if you consider that I am listening to them for more than 25 years now and I have in my music collection about 13-14 of their albums, I think I have a rather detailed opinion about them.

 Truth is that, their career has gone downhill for many years now, but they do release a good album every now and then; but to be honest, I don’t know if The Ferryman’s Curse is one of those albums.

 I know very well how good and important band Strawbs was, and I will not form an opinion based on their 23^rd studio album. But, that doesn’t change the fact that “Ferryman’s” is a very mediocre album. Yes, it includes some fine moments, like When the Spirit Moves for example, but most of the songs would never fit into the band’s older albums; and that definitely tells us something about the overall quality, correct?

 The Ferryman’s Tale is one more piece in a line of not so good – but not bad - albums, like Prognostic, or Hero & Heroine in Ascencia, among others.

For all those things, I don’t think I can give more than 2.5 stars (out of 5.0)

  Last night one more Prog n roll radio show was online as usual. This time we had the pleasure and honour to have on our chatbox the leader of Threshold, Karl Groom.
 Exactly one week before the band's live gig in Athens and the opening of their European tour, we and our listeners had the chance to "meet" him and spent some time altogether, while we were chatting and listening to music.
  During the show, we played some parts of the interview we conducted with him a couple of weeks ago, and played some songs from Threshold's new album Legends of the Shires.
  We also had a music quiz, and the winner took as a prize a CD copy of Legends of the Shires, signed by the band. The winner was the person with the nickname Proghead, from UK, who answered correctly and he was really quick with both questions. So, he won the CD!
  I believe it was an interesting show, and the 2 hours passed very fast.

Prog n Roll welcomes Karl Groom of Threshold, and presents Legends of the Shires

  I am writing this piece to inform you that, on this Sunday 5/11/2017, we are going to have live on Prog n Roll's chatbox the leader of Threshold, Karl Groom.
Exactly one week before Threshold's live gig in Athens, we have the pleasure and honour to present the band's brand new album Legends of the Shires to our listeners.
  During the 2 hours that the show is on air, we will play parts of the interview we conducted with Karl a couple of weeks ago, mixed with songs from "Legends". We prepared a rather powerful and upbeat playlist which includes songs from many classic and modern bands, further than Threshold of course.
But that's not all!
 We also will have a music quiz, and the winner will get as a prize a signed copy of Legends of the Shires CD, kindly offered by Karl.
  I am almost certain that, further than Karl, we are going to have more musicians on our chatbox that night, so the conversations are going to be very interesting, to say the least.

THRESHOLD Live in Athens (12/11/2017)

  I am writing this post to inform you about the forthcoming live gig of the English Prog-Metal band Threshold in Athens, on the 12th of November.
  This is going to be the band's first live gig in Athens, so I am guessing that the fans of the band will be there in order to see them on stage.
  A few days ago I was speaking with Karl Groom, the band's leader, because we will have him in Prog n Roll as guest on Sunday, (you will read another post on the subject in a few days), and he told me that the setlist will be including almost 45 minutes from the new - very good - album Legends of the Shires and almost an hour from their older stuff.
  Threshold will begin their mini European tour from Athens, followed by concerts in England, Wales, Germany and Holland mostly.
 A few hours ago, I bought my ticket, and to be honest I can't wait! The tickets cost 22€, which is a very good price I think.
  The concert will take place at Kyttaro Club, in the center of Athens.
So, if you are living in Athens or you are just visitors, here's a good chance to see Threshold on stage.

Prog n Roll radio show (29/10/2017), including the Listener's Happy Hour. The complete playlist and more...

Hello all!
  Last night, the last Prog n Roll radio show of October was on air, and because of that, it was including the Listener's Happy Hour; during which, we played the songs that were requested by our listeners.
  This was the first time we did the Listener's Happy Hour after a long time, and we had no idea what to expect. Some people from our audience responded, and asked for some songs to play for them. 
  There were enough long songs included in their requests, that's why the Listener's Happy Hour lasted for more than just an hour; which is very good.
For that reason, the first two parts of the show were shorter than usual.
I believe that it was a very enjoyable show, the playlist was kind of mixed up, and we had lots of fun on the chatbox.

Prog n Roll presents: The Listener's Happy Hour

Hello all!

  I am writing this piece in order to inform you that for this season we decided to bring back the Listener's Happy Hour, which we had in Prog n Roll for the first time 2 years ago. 

But what is that?

  During each month, we are asking from our listeners to send us their song requests via e-mail or FB, or SMS (if they are Greek), and during the last show of each month we are playing their requests. We have begun with only 1 hour dedicated to them, and our ambition was to reach at a point where we will be dedicating the whole show to their requests. This month is the first time that we will do that, after a long time, and I am very pleased with the response we had. For starters, we have almost 65 minutes of music, which can be translated into almost 80 minutes of air time; (with the broadcasting and everything).

  So, this Sunday we are going to have a very special show, because it is made together with our listeners!

  Tune in if you want, in order to spend 2 pleasant hours with the show, the music and the usual fun on the chatbox.
