Prog n Roll's special 'epic' show. (15/4/2018). The complete playlist...

Hello all!
Last night one more Prog n Roll radio show was online as usual. This time we had  a special epic show prepared for our audience, as we had announced before.
As our listeners know very well, we are closing each of our shows with a long (over 10 minutes) song that we like to call as epic. So, this time we decided to make a special show that would include only epics. This was the first time we tried something like that, but judging from the crowd we had and the people's reactions it won't be the last!
Here you can take a look at the playlist:
1st Part: LED ZEPEPLIN: Achilles Last Stand / DEEP PURPLE: Mistreated (Live) / RUSH: Xanadu.
2nd Part: ELOY: Love Over Six Centuries / BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST: Summer Soldier (Live) / YES: Machine Messiah.
3rd Part: NEAL MORSE BAND: Broken Sky-Long Day / PORCUPINE TREE: Arriving Somewhere.
4rth Part: RENAISSANCE: Song of Scheherazade.
I would like to thank all those who chose to spend their Sunday evening/night with us. I hope you enjoyed it!
Thanks a lot!

As many of you know already, I am posting my weekly Top-5 song list here on every Saturday morning.

GALAHAD: Smoke (Seas of Change - 2018)
RENAISSANCE: Song of Scheherazade (Scheherazade and Other Stories - 1975)
KING CRIMSON: In the Wake of Poseidon (In the Wake of Poseidon - 1970)

IRON MAIDEN: Alexander the Great (Somewhere in Time - 1986)
In case you are interested, you can listen to the songs in my list by clicking the following YT links. As it seemed, the song Smoke by Galahad was nowhere to be found, but the other 4 were available.
RENAISSANCE: Song of Scheherazade

Hello all!
I am writing this piece to inform you that on this Sunday the 15th of April, the internet radio show Prog & Roll is going to present a special epic show for the first time!
As our faithful listeners know, we are closing each of our shows with a long (over 10 minutes) song, that we like to call as "epic". Well, this time we decided to create a playlist that will be including only "epic" songs. This is going to be something really special, and if our listeners will enjoy it maybe we will do it again at some point in the future.
The playlist is ready, and it includes some very famous and some not so famous songs, but all of them are really great ones!
So, do not miss the chance to listen to this rather unique show!
Prog & Roll will be online on Sunday the 15th of April at 20.00 UK time. It is a bilingual live broadcast and you can listen by clicking on the following link on the time and day I mentioned: www.justincaseradio.com
I hope to "see" you there!

JUDAS PRIEST: Firepower (2018). My "review"...

Who would believe that in the year 2018 and with 18 studio albums in their "suitcases", Judas Priest would release something so good and powerful?
I have been listening to Judas Priest since my teenage years, when at the age of 15 I bought the legendary Sad Wings of Destiny, and my jaw fell to the ground. (Now, many, many years later, I value this album greatly and I am still listening to it from time to time).
I still have a great respect for this band, but I don't follow their latest releases closely. So, when I learn about Firepower, I thought "oh well"...
But out of plain curiosity, I decided to give it a try. And I dare say that it is the best album I have heard from them in a long time!
Firepower includes 14 songs, not all of them are really good, but most of them are. (But you won't find a bad song here). Also, despite the absence of K.K Downing, the guitar riffs are really outstanding! So, hat's off to Richie Faulkner and  Glen Tipton for the great work they did here!
The album's general style reminds me of their older works from mid 80's to early 90's, which means that it includes the typical Judas Priest sound that we know so well.
Do not expect something unique or new here. It's a very good typical Judas Priest album and that's all! Loud guitars, killer riffs, excellent solos, powerful and loud drumming and of course the familiar voice of Rob Halford, that sounds very good, despite his age. (Rob Halford must be around 67-68 years old now).
I don't believe that any fan of Heavy Metal will not be satisfied with Firepower, not to mention the fans of Judas Priest.
This is an excellent old-fashioned Heavy Metal album, with modern production and crystal clear sound! What more can you ask for?
Don't hesitate, go out and grab it!
Firepower is available in CD and double vinyl edition. I have no idea if a digital version is available though.
Favourite songs: Lightning Strike, Children of the Sun, Rising from Ruins, Traitor’s Gate.
My Rating: 4.0 out of 5.0 stars

The Clockwork Fable is a really good and ambitious piece of work, that upon its release received many great reviews and praises. Many good and famous musicians are participating, such as Arjen Lucassen and Blaze Bayley. (Among others).
Today is the first day of this very good offer and we don't know for how long it is going to last. So, don't hesitate!

Prog n Roll radio show, incl. April Fools Day's "epic". (1/4/2018)

Hello all!
As some of you may have noticed, I am not writing new things on my blog lately, because my everyday schedule was extremely busy. But today I am here to write a few things about last night's Prog n Roll radio show.
We had a rather pleasant and fun show prepared, which was including a small joke for the April's Fools day. So, since the beginning of the show we kept saying that we discover a very rare and unknown recording from the 70's, that we were planning to play as "epic", at the end of our show. For those who aren't familiar with the term "epic", I should say that we are closing each of our shows with a long (over 10 minute long) song, that we call as epic.
And to make it more believable, we said that we found 2 rare recordings, not just one. The first was a radio advertisement The Moody Blues recorded in 1969 for Coca Cola, which we did play. So, as it seemed everybody believe it, especially after we played the advertisement. And near the end of our show, we announced that the epic song we discovered was a very rare collaboration between musicians and actors, and it was including some very serious lyrics, and the people should pay some attention to them. And we played the song 'Sit on My Face' by The Monty Python! You have no idea what happened after that! We had some great fun on the chatbox, cause everybody was surprised and they were laughing. Of course, right after that, we played the normal epic song, which was the beautiful The Cinema Show by Genesis.
If you are interested, take a look at the whole playlist that follows:
Part 1: ERIC CLAPTON: Blues Power / JOE COCKER: Watching the River Flow / ERIC BURDON & WAR: Tobacco Road / THE J GEILS BAND: Wait / THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND: Whipping Post / AL KOOPER & MIKE BLOOMFIELD: That’s Alright Mama.
Part 2: MANFRED MANN’S EARTH BAND: Blinded by the Light / STYX: Crystal Ball / KANSAS: On the Other Side / WISHBONE ASH: Errors of my Way / ATOMIC ROOSTER: Tomorrow Night.
Part 3: BELIEVE: Tumor / RED BAZAR: Sunset for a New World / HOSTSONATEN: On the Sea / CICCADA: She Went for Love.
Part 4: THE MOODY BLUES: Radio commercial for Coke / CURVED AIR: Marie Antoinette / ILLUSION: Beautiful Country / FAIRPORT CONVENTION: Meet on the Ledge / MONTY PYTHON: Sit on my Face / GENESIS: The Cinema Show.
I should also inform you that, on next Sunday the 8th of April, we will not have a show, due to the Orthodox Easter. Prog n Roll will be back on Sunday the 15th, with a special Epic show! Try not to miss that one!
A very big thanks to all those who chose to spend their evening/night with us and our show. Take care all!
Thank you very much!
