As I wrote in a previous post, on Sunday the
22nd of January, the Greek band Verbal Delirium presented live their
new album The Imprisoned Words of Fear at Kytaro club in the centre of Athens.
There was a good crowd gathered for the event, and the band played for almost 2
hours. The setlist was divided into 3 parts. During the first part, the band
presented the new album, and then, instead of a break, they presented a small
acoustic part. After that, the whole band returned on stage for the 3rd
and final part of the concert, during which they played some of their older
songs.
Especially for the occasion, the band’s line up was including Nikolas
Especially for the occasion, the band’s line up was including Nikolas
Nikolopoulos (the leader of the band Ciccada) on
Saxophones and Flute and Nikitas Kissonas, (the leader of the band Methexis) on
guitars and backing vocals. With these 2 additions, their sound became heavier and more
complicated – so to say – and maybe that was the reason that they had some
problems with the sound quality at the beginning. But with each passing song the
sound was improving.
During the short acoustic part, they played 3
songs; One of Verbal Delirium’s first album, one of Methexis’ debut album and a
cover version of a Peter Hammill’s song.
The gig lasted for almost 2 hours, and I dare
say that it was a really good one! I have seen Verbal Delirium on stage 4-5
times so far, but this was probably the best one.
After the gig, I had the opportunity to meet
with the guys, have a small chat with them, take a few pictures, and bought a
couple of albums which they signed. (I know most of the band’s members anyway,
so it was a pleasant chat between "friends").
In the pics on the right of the post you can see Verbal on stage, followed by 2 pictures with me and my friends together with Ciccada's leader Nikolas Nikolopoulos on the first one, and with Jargon, the singer and keyboard player of Verbal on the second one.
Here is the concert’s complete setlist:
